How did your career in marketing begin?
After my A-levels, I started my career in a small marketing agency where I was a Social Media Assistant. After a few years, I moved to a full-service digital agency and continued down the agency route until I progressed into more in-house roles. My first in-house role was a Marketing Coordinator at a restaurant chain, a role I got based on my prior experience and creative work. I worked there for several years before joining ROCOL in my current role of Marketing Communications Assistant.
How long have you worked at ROCOL and what attracted you to the company?
I have been working at ROCOL for almost a year and a half now. I’d read several articles about how innovative the company was in the way customers use their products, which really caught my eye as I feel that innovation and creativity are an important part of the success of a business and I wanted to be part of that at ROCOL.
The other thing that attracted me was the way that ROCOL looks after its employees. The company feels like a family, and after working here for just a short period of time, I can honestly say it’s one of the best places I’ve ever worked.
What are your favourite parts of your role?
I love that there is always something new to learn. I really enjoy learning new things, and I consider myself very fortunate to work in an industry that is always changing and growing with new technologies, capabilities and ideas.
How do you spend your time outside work?
Before COVID-19, I really enjoyed travelling. Throughout 2020, I drew up a list of all the places I wanted to visit, but because of the ongoing travel bans, I now often find myself just playing a lot of PlayStation instead. With a whole tour across the world on my bucket list, I’m really looking forward to exploring more once the pandemic passes.
Share one fact that your colleagues wouldn’t know about you.
For the last eighteen years, I’ve been involved in a self-defence martial art called Jujitsu, which after some serious dedication, I am now a second-dan black belt within my club. Having been a big wrestling fan at seven years old, I was hooked instantly, and with it not only being a great outlet to reduce stress, it’s also allowed me to help prepare for unexpected situations if they ever occur.
